To make a catnip tea, add one teaspoon of catnip per one cup of boiling water. Allow to steep for 15-20 minutes. Drain and sweeten with honey if you like.

These are three very soothing kidney herbs. To help ease the pain of kidney stones and infections and also to prevent recurring kidney stones, make a tea of equal parts wild carrot seeds, valerian and peppermint.
Use about one teaspoon of the mixture to each cup of boiling water and allow to steep for about half an hour. If the pain is very intense, these kidney herbs are safe to consume almost constantly. Don’t over-do it. Eight ounces per hour is probably enough.

If there is blood in the urine related to kidney stones or infections, shepherd’s purse is one of the best kidney herbs to use. Make a tea with this herb using one heaping teaspoon per cup of boiling water. Allow to steep for a half hour. Drink about three cups per day or more as needed to stop the bleeding.
Kidney Herbs for Kidney Stones and Infections – Other Treatments
If you have a history of kidney stones or infections, kidney herbs alone may not be enough. You should take a look at your diet and cut out fried, fatty foods and caffeinated drinks.
Try to consume at least two quarts of water per day to keep kidney stones and infections away. Kidney stones are often times formed of calcium oxalate and so eating a diet low in oxalates can help in preventative care.
Foods high in oxalates that should be avoided include spinach, celery, okra, leeks, sweet potatoes, berries, rhubarb, almonds, cashews and peanuts.
