How Smoking Effects the Liver
Most people know that smoking is bad for your lungs and heart. We have heard all of the stories of lung cancer and heart attacks. The effects on the liver are equally as scary and damaging to your health. To begin with cigarettes are full of toxic chemicals. These chemicals enter your blood stream through your lungs. Your liver must filter these toxins out of your body so you do not become ill. Some of these toxins are extremely harsh on the liver. These most harmful chemicals such as N-Nitrosodiethylamine or Arsenic can cause liver tumors, cancer and inflammation. When your liver is inflamed it causes intolerance to drugs and alcohol and inability to filter toxins as well as necessary. When your liver is inflamed there is a higher chance of developing Hepatitis or liver cancer.
If you are addicted to cigarettes and would like help quitting, talk to your doctor. There are many programs and medications to help you quit. Taking better care of your liver, lungs, and heart can give you more energy, stamina, mood control, and can prevent diseases.
