While on vacation this summer, I realized that I had forgotten my package of birth control pills. How could I have forgotten to pack them? This was crucial; I was not ready for a child. I told my fiancé that we were going to have to be very safe, and he responded that was fine, and was still flabbergasted as to how I forgot. So, three weeks later we were home, and I had absolutely no idea if I was late or not, because I did not have my period.
Fast forward to three weeks later, we are home from vacation and the pills are nowhere to be found. I tore apart the home looking for the pills, and found a new package, but this was not the problem. I had absolutely no idea where I was at in the cycle, and of course, always meaning to write down the date that I began to menstruate, but never doing so, left me confused of whether I was late, or not.
I decided to take the plunge and go to the drug store and purchase that “just in case” pregnancy tests. First response, although one of the most expensive brands, was also one of the most familiar. I figured that first response would be best, as I was unsure of even how early that I was testing. I chose the first response one minute test because I don’t think that I would have the patients to wait the regular seven minutes or whatever it was.
The packaging was somewhat reassuring, I mean, and how difficult could it be to pee on a stick, right? I read through the instructions twice, just to be sure and than decided that it was time to take the test. It only took a minute to find the answer, and I had a few minutes. What did I have to lose? Except for my single girl ways that was? Even though I was engaged, I am still not ready to have a child. All of these thoughts were running through my head as I peed on the stick, and waited a minute.
I was very happy that these responses were easy to read. This minute is the longest of my life I thought! I was reassured when I began to see just one faint line. One means that you are not pregnant, and two means that you are pregnant, I read the instructions again, just to make sure. I was not pregnant, so now I wait. My cycle was bound to start in a couple of days.
When at the store, I was tempted with the digital tests, but first response one minute test was going to give me results in less than a minute. During that minute there are so many thoughts running through your mind that it could drive you crazy, so I could not imagine waiting seven minutes! This test was easy to take, and easy to hold on to.
Make sure that you pee on the absorbent part of the stick, it is important! It is easy to miss, and than the test could be ruined, so watch where you are peeing, and pee on the stick. Apparently, missing, or not peeing enough on the stick could give you false results. Most of all, I was happy about the fact that I was not pregnant, but first response made it an easy process to determine that fact!
