High blood pressure is a dangerous condition to go unchecked. Yet there are many people that are walking about day in and day out who are at risk because they have high blood pressure. Why are they at risk ?because if you have hypertension then you could well suffer from a stroke, heart attack or even heart failure.
So what can we do about this ? Well the first thing to do is to get your blood pressure checked by a pharmacist or by the nurse or Doctor at your Doctors office. If you get back a reading of 120/80 then you are absolutely fine and your Doctor will tell you that your blood pressure is normal. If however your reading is some what higher than this then your Doctor may be concerned and advise you on some changes that may be needed in your life to bring your blood pressure level down to normal.
The alternative to making changes in your life or if those changes didn’t alter your blood pressure level is that your Doctor may have to put you on medication to deal with your hypertension. Nobody wants to have to take medication and obviously the preferred route is to bring our blood pressure down naturally with changes in our lifestyle.
So how can we changed our lifestyles so it will have a positive effect on our blood pressure. The first and most obvious one is our weight. If we are over weight or obese then this can raise our blood pressure and put a strain on our hearts. So the answer is to lose weight and this can have a dramatic effect on bringing our blood pressure down.
If we are not really doing the kind of activity we should be doing to maintain a healthy body and by this I mean exercise. It is so easy with a busy life to just collapse on the couch at the end of a hard day and stay there watching TV. Then we need to involve exercise into our daily life, a good 30 minute minimum of heart speeding exercise most days will give your cardio system a good workout and this will help reduce your blood pressure. The good thing about this is that if you start to exercise regularly then you will lose weight as well and tone your body. So you will be doing two things to help lower your blood pressure.
These are just a couple of ways to help lower our blood pressure, there are many more. I found plenty of great information and ideas from Bret Finnego who had high blood pressure himself and managed to successfully lower it to a normal level using many techniques that helped him to avoid medication.
